Description:

This direct bolt on turbocharger has been designed from the ground up, taking all that KC Turbos R&D over the last decade and implementing that technology and reliability in the KC Vortex Turbo series. That's right the market has been begging for years for us to make and bring you the KC Turbos quality and performance to an upgraded drop in replacement, and we have worked tirelessly to do that. The KC Vortex Stage 2 Turbo was designed as a drop in replacement for the 2004.5-2016 (LLY-LBZ-LMM-LML) Duramax Diesel Engines.

We modified the the compressor housing to fit our upgraded 64mm billet compressor wheel. The compressor wheel is the result of countless hours of R&D to find the perfect marriage of peak power and accelerated spool up. We use a machining process known as "point milled" in order to achieve extremely precise curves and angles. This process is used so we can pack as much performance in a smaller sized wheel that is lighter, thus quickening the spool up speed and producing max boost. This is the perfect realization of "bigger is not always better". For the LBZ, LMM & LML this will be a "bigger" compressor wheel by the numbers. In the case of the 2004.5-06 LLY which came from the factory with a 63.5mm compressor wheel, this may not sound a like much "bigger" turbo but it is a much "better" turbo.

The KC Vortex also features a brand new KC 10 blade turbine wheel. The technology used in the the development of this 66mm turbine wheel was derived from the KC Jetfire turbo series. Although similar in concept, the KC Vortex turbine wheel was made for the 6.6 Duramax Diesel. The shape and increased surface area of each individual blade, give the turbine the performance of a much larger physical size while retaining more efficient proportions. This gives the KC Vortex turbo super speedy spool up and maximized top end power.

This is our daily driver / towing turbo, this is a slightly larger turbo (For some of the engine models) that will give you the performance and still be able to tow great.

**EXHAUST BRAKES: We get asked a lot about exhaust brakes and if they work with our turbos. We have found that some brands have clearance issues and might cause the brake to hinder performance, rub the turbine wheel, or cause other issues. These brakes typically use some sort of flapper to close which causes extreme exhaust back pressure to aide in braking. This can be hard on a turbo and motor and is not recommended. It will be up to the customer to verify fitment and functionality.**
